Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also sings. She is the youngest woman and was the first person to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shakar, a young emerging star on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is Ravi Shankar's student, and the daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London, she spent the beginning of her career traveling between London and New Delhi. She gave her debut performance on stage in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. When she moved to Encinitas CA in 1999 she received a high-school degree. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful career in recording and performing even though she's only a teenager. Since a while, she performs regularly alongside her father. She has released Anourag her first album solo in 1998. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall. She's performed in all important venues across the world. Her career doesn't just involve the world of music. Anoushka spent a lot of time between London and Delhi during her young years. Then, she relocated to California for high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday, Anoushka made her debut as a sitar player before the crowd of at the age of four, following her nine year old father. As a part of her dad's band as they toured around the globe, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experience performing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also making recordings together with George Harrison. She was the youngest woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament as recognition of her musical talent and artistic ability within the Asian Arts.
